Resumen

El proyecto para producir una psicología retórica implica mover la psicología social en dos direcciones. Primero, hay una vinculación de la psicología con la tradición retórica. El estudio de la ‘retórica’ es una de las tradiciones intelectuales más antiguas de la historia occidental. Como estudio formal, la retórica debe sus orígenes a la formación de oradores en la Antigua Grecia. A partir de entonces, el estudio de la retórica ocupó un lugar central en la educación occidental, hasta que disminuyó repentinamente en el siglo XIX. Hoy en día, los textos que durante siglos formaron parte central del currículo educativo no son leídos, excepto por un puñado de especialistas –aunque ahora hay signos de un renacimiento retórico o de un retorno de lo olvidado.
